Product Description

Blur is the ultimate powered-up racing experience, dropping you into electrified action with a mass of cars targeting the finish line and battling each other as they trade paint in both single player and multiplayer action. Travel the globe from L.A. and San Francisco to Spain, the UK and more to take on the best the streets have to offer. Utilize an arsenal of power-ups like nitro speed boosts, shock attacks, defensive shields, and landmines to beat your rivals across the finish line. You choose how and when to use your arsenal of powerups for ultimate impact in a race where the outcome is never certain.

In Blur the storyline plays out in the single player campaign. Here players assume the role of an up-and-coming racer who is looking to make a name for himself in the underground racing scene, but the competition is fierce. As you take on the series of races, you'll meet a bunch of recurring characters. Some of these characters will be rivals, others perhaps will act as mentors, and some may be something else entirely. The only thing that is certain in the world of Blur is that in a race there are winners and losers, and racers will do anything to reach the finish line first.

Although filled with the beautifully elaborate racing environments, realistic damage effects and a long list of available cars usually only found in simulation racers, Blur is an arcade racer through and through. Its single player campaign revolves around the game's Career Mode, while in multiplayer there are additional options, including customizable cooperative and competitive races. In both of these though the second-to-second, fast-paced action is rooted in the wealth of powerups strewn throughout the track. These are addictive in their use and dramatic and devastating when used against opposing racers. With each successive race that players engage in they will use their collection of powerups to engage in vehicular combat o

5 out of 5 stars Best racing game since Burnout   May 29, 2010

I played this game for several hours last night and firmly believe that it is the best racing game since Burnout. As you can probably tell from my frame of reference, I like racing games to be fun rather than realistic and Blur excels on this front. The friend I played against had practiced with the Beta version online, but I found the controls to be so intuitive that it didn't take long for me to level the playing field and for us to genuinely compete with one another. This is where Blur surpasses the competition; it is accessible to newcomers but also rewards practice. As we placed through the courses I learned how each of the powerups worked and was able to select the ones that suited my preference for aggressive, high speed play (nitro and shunt) as well as the requisite repair and shield to help keep my car in one piece. Offensive powerups fired at you can always be avoided by a combination of clever manoeuvres and firing counter weapons backwards. When your car is wrecked you are dropped back into the race after a short time period which means that, with skilful driving and use of powerups, you can still be in with a chance of winning. The game looks stunning, favouring neon light trails across courses in the long shadows of the evening.

If you want a fun, superbly designed game to play against your friends either split screen or online, then I cannot recommend this game highly enough.

5 out of 5 stars Sound's impressive!   June 4, 2010

Blur is easily the finest racing game available this century and the fact that so many 'professional' reviewers have given it 7's and 8's just shows how wide of the mark they really can be. It's a near constantly thrilling game that hits every beat, is constarntly rewarding, can be enjoyed no matter your ability (though a better online racer will kick your botton) and even features a fantastic sound track by The Crystal Method and Ninja Tunes. All you have to do to hear it is go to the sound options. Again, many reviewers missed this which just shows how much they explored the game. Music aside, the sound effects are simply superb, fully dymanic in 5.1 - which is why the game defaults to having no actual sound track. The effects are stunning.

I haven't been this enamoured with a game since Burnout and Blur is arguably a much better all round. It's what consoles, big HDTVs and 5.1 sound systems were meant to get together and enjoy. Spectacular. Even my girlfriend loves it, Mario Kart Wii being an embaressing memory.

5 out of 5 stars An Overlooked Gem   June 3, 2010

Blur is a fantastic racing game, combining the realistic racing of games like Need For Speed, and power ups like Mario Kart to make a racing game your never going to forget.

The gameplay is pure addictive fun that you'll want to keep coming back to for more. The game has a single player career mode that'll provide you with many challanges and rival races. By winning races, you'll gain fans that will unlock new cars and also new mods to your cars when you level up. You can even send challanges to your friends to see if they can beat the race you just won. The best part of the game comes in the local and online multiplayer modes. You can race up to 4 players locally and up to 20 players online in diffrent modes like normal racing and battle modes. You can even share your best races with friends over Xbox Live, or with your Twitter and Facebook accounts. This game is brilliant for bringing friends together.

The controls are perfect for those new to racers and experts. Drifting will take a few trys to get the hang of, but depending on what car you use is how good you drift.

The Graphics are amazing. The motion blurs, cars, courses and effects of power ups attacking racers all look brilliant. Everything is pleasing to the eyes.

The audio brings the feeling of all the carnage going on to life, as you feel the tension when you play. There some music in the game thats pretty good, but you won't hear any during races. It won't matter though as the races have enough going on to make you not worry there's no music in the backround.

If you like action packed racing games thats perfect for playing with friends, then get this game. Blur is an amazing racing game that you'll want to play again and again. This will never "Blur" away from your memory.

This game finally brings racing games to the 21st century. Much better game than split second. The graphics, neon lighting, car models, tracks and even sounds stand out as the best I have seen. This game is highly underated. Must Buy....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars One of the best racers around!   July 26, 2010

Ive now played this game for many many hours and still think its as amazing as when I forst played it. Its basically a cross between Gran Turismo and Mario Cart, as its real cars like Mustangs, Hummers and then supercars like the Audi R8 or the Dodge Viper, and then the powerups which are amazing. These include nitros, sheilds and then offensive weapons like a barge and shunt which ram opponents, EMP shocks, mines and then small arrows which cause cars to lose control. The graphics are amazing as well, and there are a huge variety of racing tracks (and cars). The music soundtrack which has to be turned on in the options menu is great and makes the races even more action packed. When I saw the game trailer there was so much action going on (like in all trailers), but in this game it is as wild and racy as in the demo. This is easily one of the best games that have been released for a long long time. However, I would only buy the game if you have XBOX Live as without it the game will be very limitd, as the emphasis is on the multiplayer part of the game, so Live is a must. This is obviously an arcade racer, and the way it is made anyone can play, from the odd player to the avid racer, as the way you progress through multiplayer is based on fans, which can either be gained by winning, or just by being vicious and attacking various cars, so you can win the award for the highest fans, yet have come last! I would highly recommend this game to anyone, as even people I know who arent into car games so much even enjoy this game
